Entry Regulations within Europe and Worldwide

Here, you can find current information about entry regulations as well as information and tips for travelling with children and infants.

Current entry restrictions

  • Please note the current entry regulations that have been in effect for flights to Germany since May 13. You will find there the nationwide uniformly regulated registration, quarantine and test proof obligation as well as the transport ban from virus variant areas.

Balearic Islands

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to the Balearic Islands that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.

You are also required to fill in the following documents before arrival:

  1. Public Health Passenger Locator Form (PLF)
    a) fill in the form on the website www.spth.gob.es or
    b) download the SPTH App and fill out the form there.
     You will then receive a QR code that you should present when checking in.

Important information: You cannot complete the form without specifying your seat. We therefore recommend that you make a seat reservation either when booking or when checking in online. This will help ovidyou avoid long wait times at the airport.

2. COVID-19 test
All travellers aged 12 years or older who enter Spain by air or sea and come from a risk area that includes Germany are required to carry a negative test result from a molecular biological test (e.g. a PCR/LAMP/TMA test) or an antigen test (so-called "rapid test").

Requirements:

  • The test must have been taken within 48 hours before entry.
  • The negative test result must be presented in electronic or paper form (in English or Spanish) and contain the following information: name of the traveller, passport or identity card number (this number must be identical to the passport/identity card number used in the electronic entry form), test date, contact details of the laboratory and name of the laboratory assistant.

Proof of vaccination/gene

  • For travellers who present proof that they have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to travel with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the WHO by way of emergency approval, the requirement for proof of testing upon entry into Spain does not apply.
  • The same applies to travellers who carry proof that they have not recovered from a COVID-19 infection more than 180 days ago. The proof must be provided no earlier than 11 days after the first positive result. Proof must be provided electronically or in paper form in Spanish, English, French or German. 

Canary Islands

You are also required to fill in the following documents before arrival:

  1. Public Health Passenger Locator Form (PLF)
    a) fill in the form on the website www.spth.gob.es or
    b) download the SPTH App and fill out the form there.
     You will then receive a QR code that you should present when checking in.

COVID-19 Test
All travellers aged 12 years or older who  to the Canary Islands by air or sea and come from a risk area that includes Germany are required to carry a negative test result from a molecular biological test (e.g. a PCR/LAMP/TMA test) or an antigen test (so-called "rapid test").

Corona warning app
There is a basic obligation to activate the Spanish Corona app "Radar COVID" and to deactivate it at the earliest 15 days after returning from holiday.

Access to the airport building
Please also be aware that visitors who are not travelling are not permitted to access the airport terminal. Only passengers and helpers accompanying passengers in need of assistance are allowed to enter the terminal building.

Croatia

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to Croatia that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.

You are also required to complete the following documents online before arrival:

  • Filling out the entry declaration
  • For all travellers over the age of 12, you are required to carry a negative PCR test result (max. 72 hours on entry) or antigen test result (max. 48 hours on entry) from a provider listed by the EU.
  • Exempt from this requirement are:
    a) Travellers whose vaccination protection is complete, i.e. 14 days have passed since the last vaccination, depending on the dose. The following vaccines are licensed: AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm or Sputnik V; or
    b) Travellers who have recovered from covid-19 disease and can provide the following documents:

    • A COVID-19 recovery certificate issued no more than 180 days prior to arrival and a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that the passenger received the first dose of the vaccine no more than 180 days prior to arrival; or
    • a positive COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test result issued at least 11 days and not more than 180 days prior to arrival.

Germany

The following information is without guarantee and does not release the customer from his responsibility be informed about the necessary documents and to obtain them accordingly. Passengers must follow the regulations for entry in the currently valid version. Please note that these regulations may be subject to change.

Proof of health

Proof of health is a negative test certificate, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery. Please note that you may have to submit these to the competent authority via the entry portal  (www.einreiseanmeldung.de).

Proof of testing

Test proof is a negative antigen test in paper form or digital form (no photo of the paper form), which must have been taken a maximum of 48 hours ago at the time of entry, or a negative PCR test result (again, no photo of the paper form), which must have been taken a maximum of 72 hours ago. Test certificates in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish are accepted. In case of entry from a virus variant area, an antigen test may be dated back a maximum of 24 hours.

Proof of vaccination

Proof of vaccination is evidence of the existence of a complete protective vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, if the underlying protective vaccination has been carried out with one or more vaccines listed by the Paul Ehrlich Institute on the Internet at  https://www.pei.de/impfstoffe/covid-19 and at least 14 days have passed since the last required individual vaccination.

In the case of a recovered person, one vaccine dose is sufficient for proof of vaccination.

Proof of vaccination is accepted in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish in paper or digital form (no photo of the paper form).

Proof of convalescence

Proof of recovery is a positive PCR test if the underlying test was carried out at least 28 days and at most six months ago. Proof of recovery is accepted in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish in paper or digital form (no photo of the paper form).

Greece

1. QR Code

  • Furthermore, you must register all passengers including all children at least 24 hours before departure via the Greek Civil Protection Agency website: https://travel.gov.gr/
    We recommend to make this registration at the time of booking for all passengers.
    Shortly after midnight on the day of arrival, you will automatically receive a QR code by e-mail or on your mobile phone, which you must show upon entry or departure (passengers with a permanent residence in Greece upon departure from Greece). The test is mandatory for all tourists (including children over 5 years).

2a. Negative Covid-19 test
A negative PCR test (in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Russian) must be presented upon entry and must not be older than 72 hours at the time of entry. The test is mandatory for all entrants (including children over 5 years of age).

2b. Proof of vaccination
If the traveler has completed his/her vaccination protection (i.e. 14 days have passed since the last vaccination, depending on the dose) and can confirm this by presenting the appropriate vaccination certificate (in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Russian), proof of a negative test is not required.

The list of acceptable vaccines are:

  • Pfizer BioNtech
  • Moderna
  • Astra Zeneca/Oxford
  • Novavax
  • Johnson + Johnson/Janssen
  • Sinovac Biotech
  • Gamaleya (Sputnik)
  • Cansino Biologics

2c. Proof of recovery
Travellers who have recovered from an infection in the last nine months may present a certificate of recovery in digital or written form instead of a negative test. This must be issued by an authority or a certified laboratory. Alternatively, a certificate from a certified laboratory or an authority confirming a positive PCR test with a note of recovery from an infection between two and nine months ago is sufficient.

All proofs must contain the full name of the person travelling, which must match the details in the passport or identity card. You can also find more information about this on the Greek Civil Protection Authority page.

Italy

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to Italy that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.
You are also required to submit the following documents upon arrival:

  1. Completion of the digital entry application
  2. COVID-19 test
    All travellers are generally obliged to carry a negative test result of a PCR or antigen test (so-called "rapid test"), which must not be older than 48 hours at the time of entry. Children under two years of age are exempt from this requirement. Travellers without a negative test are obliged to isolate themselves for ten days and to take a test at the end.

Madeira

You are also required to submit the following documents upon arrival:

  1. Public Health Passenger Locator Form (PLF)

Please download this document in your chosen language, fill it out carefully and bring it to the airport with you for your departure.

You can choose whether you prefer to download the PLC form (PDF) or complete it online within 12 to 48 hours before departure.

Negative COVID-19 test result: On entry into Madeira, either a negative COVID-19 test, carried out no more than 72 hours before departure, must be presented. Alternatively, travellers can have a free COVID-19 test performed on entry, the result of which is usually available within 12 hours. Self-isolation in the hotel until the test result is received is required by the health authorities.

Passengers with a vaccination certificate (document proving full vaccination) and/or proof of recovery from COVID-19 within the last 90 days may enter Madeira without testing. The above documents must be submitted at the time of registration on the madeirasafe.com/#/login platform.

Turkey

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to Turkey that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.

You are also required to complete the following documents online before arrival:

  • Application for entry
  • Children under the age of six are exempt from this requirement.
  • All travellers to Turkey aged six years and older are required to carry a negative PCR test result (max. 72 hours on entry) or antigen test result (not older than 48 hours on entry).
  • If the traveller has completed his/her vaccination protection (i.e. 14 days have passed since the last vaccination, depending on the dose), proof of a negative test is not required.
  • Travellers who have recovered from an infection in the last six months can also present a certificate of recovery instead of a negative test.

China

Entry

Due to the highly regionalised entry regulations in China, we kindly ask you to inform yourself about the entry regulations valid at that time on the website of the German Foreign Office before you start your journey.

Dominican Republic

The cost of the tourist card to enter the Dominican Republic is included in the ticket price and will be paid by Condor to the authority. Exempt from payment are Dominican citizens and residents.

These can be refunded on the spot in the Dominican Republic against application. Further information regarding the refund process can be found at www.dgii.gov.do.

Entry

  • All travellers wanting to enter or leave the country are required to complete an electronic form ('e-ticket'). This has now replaced all previous forms for entry, customs and health-related purposes. Further information will be provided by the Dominican migration authority.
  • Temperature checks are carried out upon entry, and breath tests are also conducted at random. Travellers are required to take these tests.
  • A negative test result is not required for the flight with Condor.

Egypt

Please download this document in your chosen language, fill it out carefully and bring it to the airport with you for your departure.

  • Temperature control regulations: they are obligatory at the boarding gate before boarding (regardless of whether they have already been carried out when entering the terminal). This applies both to the German-Egypt flights and to the Egypt-German flights. In addition, temperature control can be carried out at all egyptian airports.
  • All travellers to Egypt aged six and up are required to present a negative PCR test result from a test conducted no earlier than 72 hours prior to entry.

Jamaica

Entry

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to Jamaica that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.

  • Entry by air is possible for returning Jamaicans and other nationals with permanent right of residence in Jamaica, as well as tourists and business travellers.
  • All inbound travellers must obtain official travel authorisation from Jamaican authorities before checking in for their flight.
  • In addition, all entrants aged 12 and over must provide proof of a negative PCR or antigen test, which must not be older than three days at the time of entry.
  • Entry via seaports is still not permitted.
  • A possible quarantine after entry depends on the reason for travel and the evaluation of the traveller's personal health situation.
  • Mandatory upon entry is the downloading of a COVID-19 app on the smartphone for easier contacting of the health authorities in a suspected case.
  • Travellers must agree to download the app during the application for entry clearance.

Kurdistan-Iraq Region

Entry

Please note that registering your details when you book your flight only partly fulfils the requirements for entry to the Kurdistan-Iraq Region that you are required to meet based on the current exceptional situation.

In addition, you are required to complete the following documents online prior to entry.

  • All travellers to Lebanon are required to carry a negative PCR test certificate, which must not be older than 72 hours. The result must be printed out in English or Arabic on entry.
  • If no test result can be presented, a test must be carried out at the airport at the expense of the customer.
  • This does not apply to travellers who have official proof of having received two doses of vaccination against Covid-19.
  • Travellers must sign a declaration in which they undertake to self-isolate for fourteen days. Exempted from this are official delegations, business travellers and tourists on short trips, provided they have a negative PCR test result.

Lebanon

Entry

  • In addition, you are required to complete the following documents online before entering the country
  • Entry application for Lebanon
  • The "Covidlebtrack" app must be downloaded and activated prior to check-in.
  • All travellers to Lebanon are required to carry a negative PCR test certificate, which must not be older than 96 hours at the time of entry.
  • A PCR test is carried out at the airport immediately after arrival. Children under 12 years of age and persons with complete vaccination protection are exempt from this requirement. This occurs 15 days after the last vaccination.

Maldives

Entry

  • Booking confirmation from a resort for the entire duration of your stay must be presented.
  • It is a mandatory requirement for all tourists to present a Negative result for a nucleic acid test (PCR test) for Covid-19 on arrival in English. The swab must not have been taken more than 96 hours before departure. Children under one year of age are exempt from the test requirement.

  • Submission of an electronic entry declaration. This must be completed on the Maldivian border authorities' website within 24 hours before departure.
  • The Maldivian government recommends that travelers use the local tracing app TraceEkee.
  • Temperature checks are carried out upon arrival. Travellers with Covid-19 symptoms must take a PCR test at the airport, which is subject to a fee. Random tests may also be conducted free of charge.

Mexico

Entry

  • Your passport should be valid for at least six more months.
  • German, Austrian and Swiss citizens travelling to Mexico as tourists can enter the country without a visa.
  • To enter Mexico, you must fill in a Tourist Card, which will remain valid for a maximum of 180 days.
  • Your Tourist Card will be stamped on entry and must be kept safely as it must be produced again when leaving Mexico.
  • The use of one Tourist Card for an entire family or group is not permitted.
  • Travellers are required to complete the online “cuestionario de pasajero” questionnaire. You can fill in this questionnaire online or in the app 12 hours or less before departure and will be given a QR code.

Mexican health authorities do not currently require certification of health status or test results. Quarantine measures are not provided. However, fever is increasingly being measured and travelers may be required to undergo an examination if they show symptoms.

United States of America (USA)

Entry

  • Entry is currently restricted to US citizens, permanent legal residents of the US ("green card" holders), close relatives of US citizens, diplomats or employees of international organisations. Further details on other exceptions and the issuance of National Interest Exceptions (NIE) are published by the US missions in Germany.
  • All passengers travelling to the USA are required to print, complete, sign and carry this form in duplicate.
  • All travellers to the USA are required to provide proof of a negative corona test (PCR or antigen test), which must not be older than three days at the time of entry. Infants under two years of age are exempt from this requirement.
  • Persons who have been infected with COVID within three months prior to departure must provide the airline with appropriate proof.
  • Masks are compulsory during the flight and at the airports. Refusal to wear a mask is a violation of federal law and may result in denied boarding, disembarkation from the aircraft and/or the imposition of penalties under federal law. Children under the age of two are exempt from the mask requirement.
  • Please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) quarantine recommendations, other entry requirements, and state and local quarantine regulations.
