Travel advice for a successful departure

Getting to the airport:

  • Allow enough time for the journey. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2.5 hours before departure.
  • Take advantage of our Rail&Fly offer for a particularly relaxed journey.
  • Book your parking space at the airport online in advance.

Online check-in:

  • Use our time-saving online check-in from 24 hours before departure and receive your (digital) boarding pass in advance.
  • If you are travelling with hand baggage only, you can go directly to the security check with your boarding pass on the day of departure. Guests with checked baggage can use the separate baggage drop-off counter with their boarding pass.

Late night check-in:

  • Check in comfortably and hassle-free at the airport the evening before the day of departure and drop off your checked baggage at the counter.
  • You will immediately receive your boarding pass and can proceed directly to the security check and then to the gate on the day of departure.

Automated check-in:

  • At Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Stuttgart Airport (STR), make use of the time-saving automated check-in.
  • With your booking number or your ID card/passport, you can check in there, print out your boarding pass and then hand in your baggage directly at the baggage drop-off counter.

Security check:

  • After checking in, proceed quickly to the security check. There may be long waiting times before public holidays and during the peak travel season.
  • Batteries, powerbanks and e-cigarettes belong in your hand luggage.
  • Only liquid containers with a maximum of 100 ml each may be carried in hand baggage. All containers must be packed in a plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre.
  • Dangerous items such as lighters, pepper sprays or pocket knives do not belong in hand baggage.
  • Please take as little hand baggage as possible and note the hand baggage regulations of your booked fare.

Passport control:

  • Use the time-saving EasyPASS machines for passport control. Unfortunately, families with children under 18 years of age (at Frankfurt Airport: under 12 years of age) cannot use the machines.
  • Check the entry requirements of your destination country and the validity of your travel documents in good time before departure.
