Condor Choice Fare
As part of the Choice Fares – Economy Choice, Premium Choice and Business Choice – you contribute an amount equivalent to the kerosene-related CO₂ emissions of your Condor or Marabu flight. This contribution towards future CO₂ savings potential is partially allocated to the promotion of two selected climate protection projects by our renowned partner myclimate and to increasing the future uplift of sustainable aviation fuel (Sustainable Aviation Fuel - SAF) above legal requirements.

Your contribution to the future CO₂ savings potential
The following explains to which extent Choice Fares support the selected climate protection projects and the uplift of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
- Short and medium-haul: approx. 80% for climate protection projects and approx. 20% for additional SAF above legal requirements for future Condor flights (flight time up to 6 hours)
- Long-haul: approx. 90% for climate protection projects and approx. 10% for additional SAF above legal requirements for future Condor flights (flight time from 6 hours)
The level of support for climate protection projects and the uplift of additional SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) above legal requirements is based on the flight-specific CO₂ emissions of the respective travel class of your Condor or Marabu flight beyond legal requirements. Kerosene-related CO₂ emissions are calculated in accordance with the IATA standard RP 1726, using historical flight data.
Choice Fares are not booked additionally. They form an independent and directly bookable fare alongside Economy Class, Premium Economy Class, or Business Class fares. With Economy Choice, Premium Choice and Business Choice, we provide all the advantages of our fare families, along with more flexible rebooking options and additional benefits.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?
Sustainable Aviation Fuel – SAF for short – is an umbrella term for sustainable aviation fuels. They can reduce lifecycle CO₂ emissions by up to 80 percent compared to fossil kerosene (Source: SAF: https://www.moeve.es/en/company/aviation/sustainable-aviation-fuel).
SAF is produced from waste such as used cooking oil, plant residues or biomass without the use of fossil raw materials such as petroleum – materials that do not compete with food production. In addition to SAF from residual materials, electricity-based Power-to-Liquid fuels are also in development, also referred to as PtL or eSAF. For use in aviation, SAF is blended with conventional kerosene. One of the advantages of SAF as a "drop-in fuel" is that the existing infrastructure can be used without any issues.
And why is it important?
Alternative fuels are an important building block for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in aviation while using the existing aircraft fleet and infrastructure. As part of the Choice Fares, Condor purchases SAF and uplifts it on future Condor flights. These are SAF quantities beyond the legal requirements.
Moreover, according to the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) can help reduce contrails and climate impacts in aviation. This is because SAF contains fewer aromatic compounds than kerosene, resulting in fewer soot particles. This reduces, for example, the formation of ice crystals and thus the formation of cirrus clouds, which contribute to global warming.

Efficient cooking stoves for rural communities in the tea-growing highlands of Kenya
In the hills of Nyamira County, where the majority of farmers grow tea, over 90% of rural households use firewood as their sole source of energy, while 70% of the urban population use charcoal. This contributes to deforestation and water scarcity, endangering agricultural production.
This is where our climate protection project comes in: energy-efficient cooking stoves produced locally reduce CO₂ emissions, protect forests and create new income opportunities, especially for women and young people. Together, we contribute to a more sustainable future.
Protecting Tanzanian forests for indigenous peoples, wildlife, and the climate
The forest region in northern Tanzania is not only home to the Hadza hunters and the Datooga herders, but also a habitat for endangered species such as elephants, giraffes, and lions. The communities have lived in harmony with nature for generations, but their habitat is threatened by deforestation. The primary causes are agricultural land use and livestock farming, which result in deforestation.
By securing the land rights of indigenous peoples and implementing community land use plans, the project protects forests, maintains biodiversity, and prevents the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere by reducing deforestation. Together, we contribute to a more sustainable balance between humans and nature.

How can I book the Choice Fare with Condor?
You can select the Choice Fare directly when booking your flight on the Condor website. Alternatively, you can change the fare later in "My trip". You can also select the Choice Fare if you book your flight with a travel agency.
What additional benefits does Condor's Choice Fare provide?
In addition to the contribution to climate protection projects and SAF, the Choice Fare offers:
- More flexible rebooking, modification, and cancellation policies.
- Additional services included or at a discount, depending on the travel class.
- Priority services such as check-in and boarding in certain travel classes
Can I also book the Choice Fare on Marabu flights?
Yes, you can book the Choice Fare on Marabu flights in all available travel classes. The contribution you make to future CO₂ savings potential within the Choice allocated in the same proportion as on Condor flights.
What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?
SAF is an umbrella term for alternative aviation fuels that are produced without the use of fossil raw materials such as petroleum and have a CO₂ footprint reduced by up to 80% compared to conventional kerosene. They are blended with conventional fossil kerosene. Alternative fuels are an important building block for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in aviation while using the existing aircraft fleet and infrastructure.
How does Condor use the contribution I make as part of the Choice Fare?
The contribution is divided proportionally:
- For short- and medium-haul flights, approximately 80% goes to certified sustainability projects and approximately 20% to the use of additional SAF.
- For long-haul flights, approximately 90% goes to sustainability projects and approximately 10% to additional SAF.
The amount of the contribution to climate protection projects and the use of additional SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is based on the flight-specific kerosene-related CO₂ emissions generated in the travel class booked for your flight. The basis for calculating these emission-related values is the IATA standard RP 1726, which relies on historical flight data.

I’ve booked the Condor Choice Fare – what will change for me?
As part of a product update, the Green Fare has been replaced by the new Choice Fare. Your existing booking in the Green Fare remains fully valid, including all the services you have booked, and remains unchanged. To rebook or cancel your Green Fare, please contact our Service Centre.
