Contingency Plan for Lengthy Tarmac Delays at Mainland China

For international flights that depart from or arrive at a Chinese Airport (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), Condor Flugdienst GmbH has established a Contingency Plan for Lengthy Tarmac Delay, according to China’s Administration of Flight Regularity.

In case you are on a flight operated by one of Condor's codeshare partners, the tarmac delay contingency plan of the carrier operating your flight will apply in the event of a tarmac delay.

In the unlikely event of a lengthy onboard delay prior to takeoff or upon landing at either the destination or a diversion airport, our Operations Control Center will coordinate with the pilot-in-command, the local Airport Operations Team, and authorities at the airport to fulfill our plan. Onboard delays are situations which Condor always tries to avoid. However, sometimes weather, gate-space limitations, visibility, airport conditions, mechanical issues, Air Traffic Control requirements, or other uncontrollable circumstances cause unavoidable ground delays.

The Tarmac delay plan comes into effect 15 minutes after closing the cabin doors for departure or, after arrival, if the delay exceeds the aircraft taxiing time limits at the specific airport before opening the cabin doors.

The delay is categorized as follows:

  • Delay between 15 minutes and 1 hour 59 minutes
Every 30 minutes there will be an announcement by the cabin crew with the reason of delay, estimated delay period (if known) and other dynamic flight information once it becomes available.
under the premise of safety and with the agreement of captain, the availability of lavatory facilities shall be provided.

  • Delay between 2 hours and 2 hours 59 minutes
Additionally, adequate food and portable water shall be provided if the aircraft remains on the tarmac, unless, subject to captain decision, safety or security conditions preclude this.

  • Tarmac delay for 3 hours or longer
If Tarmac Delay is 3 hours or more and there is no definite take-off time, Condor shall arrange for disembarkation unless safety or security regulations cannot be followed.
