Cos Old Town
The capital city's old town is the center of activity. The harbor with its ancient structures is impressive as are the city walls. Be sure to check out the altar of Dionysus while strolling the city. Shops and restaurants are plentiful.
This special site is one of the oldest medical centers in Europe, dating back to the beginning of the 3rd century BC, The most famous Greek physician, Hippocrates, for whom the Hippocratic oath is named, received his medical training here. The Asclepieion is found about 2.5 miles from Kos Town.
The mountain village of Zia is surrounded by pine trees and offers gorgeous views of the island's northern coast. You can see all the way to Turkey from here. Be sure to stay for the sunsets; they are truly spectacular from here. There are plenty of taverns and restaurants from which to choose.
The name says it all! Paradise Beach is found on the southwest coast. It is by far the most popular on the island thanks to the soft golden sand, clear blue water, and accessibility for swimmers of all ages and abilities. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and water sport options are abundant.
Odeon Amphitheater and Archaeological Museum
This ancient amphitheater was constructed in the 2nd and the 3rd centuries. It was initially used as a governmental and musical venue. Today it is home to the impressive archaeological museum and also hosts concerts. There is a well-preserved 3rd century mosaic as well as a grand statue of Hippocrates.
