Flights to Innsbruck

Innsbruck's main street guides you through the old town. The avenue is lined with one beautiful building after another. There are also a ton of souvenir shops and restaurants. The street can get crowded during high season, but it is worth it to experience the imposing, majestic feel of imperial Austria.

Austrian skiing is among the best. Olympia SkiWorld has over 170 miles of runs spread across eight different parks. Near perfect weather conditions allow for skiing upwards of five months of the year. Knowing this, it comes as no surprise that Innsbruck has hosted two winter Olympics. This is most definitely Innsbruck's most recognizable landmark. More an awning than a real roof, the Goldenes Dachl, or "golden roof", was built by Emperor Maximilian I in the 15th century as a spot to overlook the busy town square. Just look for the throngs of tourists and you will know you have come to the right spot.

What was once a prison is now the best vantage point in town. The Stadtturm, or "town tower" is a 200 foot structure that was built in 1450. The views from atop are an absolute must. Get a 360° view of Innsbruck and the stunning mountain landscape.

If shiny crystals are your thing, you simply must visit the Swarovski Kristallwelten (Crystal World). Swarovski crystals have become one of Austria's most important exports and this museum pays homage to them in all their glittering glory. There are designer gowns adorned with the crystals as well as replicas of famous works of art, made entirely of crystal.
