Prams, pushchairs, buggies and car seats
Travelling with children often requires a little more planning and preparation, especially when it comes to taking the everything you need with you. Our crew will do everything they can to ensure that you and your little ones can travel in comfort and without stress. From prams and pushchairs to cots and car seats – we want you to know exactly how to make everything on board go smoothly. Find out all the details about taking these items on the plane.
Prams, pushchairs, buggies, cots and child car seats are carried in the hold at no extra charge. A maximum of two of these items can be taken per baby or child. You do not need to register these in advance. Please note that prams or pushchairs with special features, such as joggers, bicycle trailers or fold-up wagons cannot be carried.
Note:
- Please note that not all airports can return prams and buggies stowed in the cargo hold directly at the passenger bridge. Alternatively, strollers can be rented at some airports. You can search which airport offers this service on the respective Airport's website.
- You are not permitted to bring comfort devices that are placed in the footwell or attached to the passenger seat (e.g. seat extensions, inflatable footrests, etc.), or use these on Condor flights for safety reasons.
Child car seats: What you need to pay attention to
Which car seats are allowed on board?
According to an EU regulation, infants (under 2 years of age) must be secured on board aircraft either in a harness or a car seat.
Condor recommends the use of an approved child seat (maximum width 42 cm) during the flight. If using a car seat, you must purchase a seat on the aircraft for the infant as a full-paying child (2 to 11 years). To ensure that you sit together as a family, we recommend reserving seats for all travellers.
Car seats are permitted in all window seats on the aircraft, with the exception of the emergency exit rows and the row in front of and behind the emergency exit row. If you are travelling with two infants, you can also book a window seat and a middle seat for the car seats.
Our crew reserves the right to refuse car seats that do not meet the requirements or if the assigned seat is not suitable for the use of a car seat. We will then stow the car seat in the aircraft hold for you free of charge. In this case, infants must be secured by a harness or by holding them on the adult’s lap. We cannot refund the fare paid for the infant's seat.
The car seat must have one of the following certifications:
- Certification by an authority of an EU member state, the FAA (aviation authority of the USA) or Transport Canada (on the basis of a national technical standard) for exclusive use in an aircraft.
- Certification according to UN standard ECE R44.03 or a newer version for use in motor vehicles.
- Certification in accordance with Canadian standard CMVSS 213/213.1 for use in aircraft and motor vehicles.
- Certification in accordance with US standard FMVSS No. 213 for use in motor vehicles or aircraft manufactured on or after 26 February 1985 in accordance with the standard. These car seats must bear one of the following stickers:
- This child restraint system conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicles safety standards.
- This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft.
