Unaccompanied minors

Whether accompanied or alone, travelling is an exciting adventure for children and adolescents. We do everything we can to make their journey a safe and unforgettable experience.

Travelling accompanied or unaccompanied?

The authorities pay particular attention to minors when travelling, regardless of whether they are accompanied or unaccompanied. They are checked like adults when crossing an external border.

Minors require their own valid, recognised travel document to travel abroad. This also applies to infants and small children. Minors requiring a visa must also have their own visa or residence permit.

Depending on their age, children and adolescents are permitted to travel unaccompanied. Minors must be registered whether they are accompanied or not. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied to the departure gate by the unaccompanied minor service and met at the gate on arrival. If using the unaccompanied minor service, legal guardians must ensure that the child is accompanied to the airport and picked up on arrival.

Children up to 11 years

Infants up to the age of 4 and older children between the ages of 5 and 11 may only fly with us if accompanied. A companion can be either a sibling over the age of 16 (brother/sister) or another person over the age of 18. It is also possible to book a fee-based unaccompanied minor service, which Condor will provide for you.

The person who looked after your child as part of the unaccompanied minor service must be able to help in the event of any issues (a flight delay, a flight cancellation, etc.). If the companion is not a parent or legal guardian, written permission must be obtained from the child's parent or legal guardian.

Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15 years old

Children aged 12 and over can travel unaccompanied on Condor flights. An unaccompanied minor service is not required, but is available upon request. Please note that unaccompanied minors are only accepted on Condor direct flights.

Adolescents aged 16 and over

Registration and the unaccompanied minor service are not required for adolescents aged 16 and over. However, you can opt for both services until your child reaches the age of 17 years old.

Our unaccompanied minor service

Depending on your child's age, the chargeable unaccompanied minor service is either compulsory or optional. You can register with or without the chargeable unaccompanied minor service by contacting our Special Assistance Team on working days no later than 48 hours before departure. Please call +49 (0) 6171 6988 978.

For flights with partner/sister airlines, other rules may apply. Please note that entry requirement for minors may differ or separate rules (e.g. requirement to present their birth certificate) may also apply. You are responsible for complying with these provisions. For more information, please contact your country's Foreign Office or the embassy/consulate of the relevant country.

Please also note the following information and checklists that we have compiled for you.

Important information for registering minors

Unaccompanied minors are only accepted on Condor direct flights.
The person taking your child to the airport must remain at the airport for half an hour after the flight actually departs.
The person dropping off and picking up your child must show their ID.
You will receive a small bag that the child must carry with them throughout the journey. This contains all the necessary travel documents (e.g. ticket, boarding pass, valid passport or child's ID card, visa for the destination country, unaccompanied minor form with details of the companion and the person picking up the child).
If the airport authorities allow it, you may accompany your child to the departure gate. Accompanying your child to the departure gate is permitted and compulsory at all German departure airports, so you can stay with them until departure and say goodbye to them there. Once you present a valid ID card or passport at check-in at the airport, you will be issued with a Gate Pass, which you can use to go through security to the gate. Please note that as a companion, you will go through security together with your child and are therefore also subject to the relevant requirements, such as restrictions on liquids or dangerous goods.

Price overview for unaccompanied minor service

Prices depend on the destination and flight route. They will be charged in addition to the ticket price for the unaccompanied minor service.

If your child is travelling with the unaccompanied minor service and has to change planes at an airport, you must register for the service for all flights.

To find out the price in advance, simply add up the amounts for:

the first destination (e. g., Frankfurt as a transfer airport),
the final destination (e. g. New York)
as well as for return flights.

If your child's journey goes from Palma de Mallorca via Frankfurt to New York, for example, add up the corresponding prices for these flight destinations.

Important: Prices apply only to Condor flights. If a segment is flown with one of our partner airlines, the regulations of that airline apply.
