You can take two mobility aids, such as a wheelchair, walker or crutches, with you on your flight free of charge. Please register walking aids at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure.

Travelling with mobility aids

If you require mobility aids such as a wheelchair, walker or crutches, we're happy to help: You can take up to two mobility aids with you on your flight free of charge. Depending on whether you want to take a manual or electric wheelchair with you, there are different things you need to bear in mind. Further information can be found further down the page.

The following applies to all wheelchairs: Please register your mobility aid at least 48 hours before departure. Transportation will also be automatically booked for your return flight. You don't need to register walking sticks or crutches beforehand.

After you register, you'll receive a written confirmation from us regarding your booking of mobility aids.

Please note the following instructions for your wheelchair travel:

Please arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure for short-haul flights and at least three hours before departure for long-haul flights.
If your mobility aid needs to be disassembled, please bring assembly instructions and the necessary tools so that our staff can carry out transportation safely.
Please note that you can only book the transportation of your wheelchair or walker for Condor flights with a DE flight number. For all other flights, please contact the relevant airline.

Manually operated wheelchairs and walking aids

We transport up to two manually operated mobility aids, such as a manually operated wheelchair, rollator or crutches, free of charge.

Walking sticks and crutches are not considered carry-on luggage. You can therefore take them on board in addition to your allowed carry-on baggage. You do not need to register these walking aids in advance.

If possible, you'll receive your wheelchair right at the aircraft after landing, immediately after disembarking. Unfortunately, we cannot offer this service at all airports.

If you do not get your wheelchair or mobility aid right after getting off, you can pick it up at the oversized baggage carousel at the baggage claim area.

To register your manual wheelchair, please have the following information ready:

Dimensions: height x width x depth
Weight in kilograms

Electric wheelchairs and battery-powered walking aids

You can bring a battery-powered wheelchair with you. However, this means that there are some additional things to consider, as the stowage location and loading of your wheelchair depend on the type of drive and battery. As an airline, we're obliged to comply with the technical requirements of the IATA dangerous goods regulations. This is the only way we can ensure safe transport. Further information on the dangerous goods regulations for batteries can be found further down this page.

To register, we need two forms:

The registration form for assistance, which you can fill out and submit online.
Customer information and requirements for the Carriage of Electric Mobility Aids (EMA). This form is available for you to download below as a PDF. Please download it, fill it out and send it to specialassistance@condor.com. You'll also need to take it with you on your flights.

Please have the following information ready for registration:

Brand and model of the wheelchair
Weight in kilograms
Dimensions: height x width x depth
Type of battery:
- Dry/leak-proof battery
- Wet cell/non-leak-proof battery
- Lithium-ion battery
Number of batteries with the respective power in watt hours (only applies to wheelchairs with lithium-ion batteries)

Which mobility aid would you like to take with you?
Are you travelling with crutches or a walker, or are you taking your manual or electric wheelchair, including the battery, on your trip?

Different conditions apply for registration and transport depending on the type of mobility aid.
Gathering information for registration
Please measure and weigh your manual or electric wheelchair. We require height x width x depth as well as the weight in kilograms.

If you want to bring an electric wheelchair with you, please check which batteries it uses, their capacity in watt hours, and whether they are removable. Batteries are classified as dangerous goods, so you must comply with the relevant regulations. Further information can be found further down the page.
Fill out and submit the registration form
Please register your wheelchair at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure. You can take crutches and walking sticks on board without having to register.

To register your manual wheelchair, you just need to fill out and submit the online form.

To register your electric wheelchair, you need to download a second form, fill it out and email it to specialassistance@condor.com. Please take this form with you on all your flights.
Preparations on your departure date
Please arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure for short-haul flights and at least three hours before departure for long-haul flights.

If your mobility aid needs to be dismantled for transport, please bring the assembly instructions and the necessary tools with you.

Our ground staff will be happy to assist you with check-in.

Transport preparations for battery-powered wheelchairs

Below you'll find the requirements for safely transporting your battery-powered wheelchair, depending on the type.

Wheelchairs and mobility aids with lithium batteries

If your wheelchair has a removable battery, take it out for the flight and carry it with you into the aircraft cabin.
You can take a maximum of one battery with 300 watt hours (Wh) or two batteries with 160 Wh each. Spare batteries should also be kept in the cabin, for example an additional 300 Wh battery or two 160 Wh batteries.
Make sure your wheelchair battery terminals are protected from short circuits. Newer models often have covered terminals. They are already protected because the battery is encased and firmly seated in the device. In some cases it is not necessary to disconnect the batteries, as improper disconnection increases the risk of fire. For older models with open terminals, you will need insulate them – for example with electrical insulation tape.
The wheelchair's circuit must be interrupted to ensure it doesn't accidentally power on. Some models can be turned off with a key. A simple push button to turn off is not sufficient for the flight, as the wheelchair could switch back on during sudden movements in the aircraft. In such cases, additional protective measures are necessary – for example, you can pull out the electrical plug or use a special locking plug such as an Airsafe plug.
Securely attach built-in batteries to the wheelchair.

Wheelchairs and mobility aids with dry cell batteries

Make sure your wheelchair battery terminals are protected from short circuits. Newer models often have covered terminals. They are already protected because the battery is encased and firmly seated in the device. In some cases it is not necessary to disconnect the batteries, as improper disconnection increases the risk of fire. For older models with open terminals, you will need insulate them – for example with electrical insulation tape.

Take batteries that are not permanently installed out of the wheelchair and protect them against short circuits. Store them securely in shatterproof packaging in your checked baggage. You can find the regulations for checked baggage on our baggage page.
You may also carry a spare battery, also packed in a shatterproof package, in your checked baggage.
Condor does not offer shatterproof packaging.

Wheelchairs and mobility aids with wet cell batteries

For wheelchairs that can be loaded upright:

If the wheelchair has a wet cell battery that is not leak-proof, you can leave it in the wheelchair. The wheelchair must be able to be loaded, stowed, secured and unloaded in an upright position.

Additionally, please make sure of the following:

Protect the battery terminals against short circuits, for example by enclosing them in a container.
Securely attach the battery to the wheelchair.
Disconnect the electrical circuits.
You are not permitted to carry spare batteries.
If possible, batteries should have leak-proof caps for the openings.

For wheelchairs that cannot be loaded upright:

If your wheelchair has a wet cell or non-leak-proof battery and cannot be loaded, stowed, secured or unloaded upright, you'll need to remove the battery. You cannot take such a battery with you as baggage.

Removed batteries can only be shipped as cargo by a certified hazardous goods service provider. The wheelchair without the battery should then be checked in as normal checked baggage.

Important note regarding transportation

If your wheelchair cannot be safely transported or loaded, we reserve the right to refuse carriage.

Possible reasons for this could include:

The dimensions of the wheelchair exceed the dimensions of the cargo door.
The wheelchair does not meet the technical requirements of the IATA dangerous goods regulations.

Our aircraft fleet consists of different types of aircraft. Since there may always be last-minute changes, we cannot guarantee that you will fly with the same aircraft as specified at the time of booking.

The following dimensions can be loaded on all Condor aircraft:

Does Condor have a wheelchair on board?

Yes, all of our aircraft have a wheelchair. Our crew will be happy to help you on your way to the on-board toilet. However, our flight attendants cannot carry or lift you. If you require additional assistance, please travel with a companion.

What types of wheelchair services can I book with Condor?

We offer various wheelchair services for a comfortable and stress-free journey.

You can choose from the following options:

Service to the boarding gate: Suitable if long distances are difficult but stairs are not a problem. Our team will take you to your departure gate.
Service right up to the aircraft door: If you find climbing stairs and walking long distances difficult, but you can move around in the aircraft. You will be taken to the door of the aircraft.
Service to the airplane seat: If you cannot walk alone, we will accompany you to your seat. You can also take your own mobility aid on board if you wish. You must book this in advance.

How far will the airport special assistance service take me in my wheelchair?

It depends on which type of accessible travel you choose.

We offer three different options: wheelchair service to the boarding gate, to the aircraft door or to your seat on the plane. You can also reserve a wheelchair for on board. Please register for each service at least 48 hours before your flight. You can find more information and the registration form on our page on accessible travel.

I rely on a companion to support me. Can they travel with me free of charge?

No, each companion needs a valid flight ticket.

We will make sure you can sit next to your companion. If you need more than one person to support you, our service team will help you find the best solution.

Can guests with reduced mobility use online check-in?

Yes, online check-in is available to all passengers. If you need accessible travel, then please contact the Accessible travel Team.
