Hauptplatz and Town Hall
The Hauptplatz, or "main square", is located right in the middle of the old town. Here there are plenty of vendors selling food and drink and there are always street performers of some kind. Beautiful imperial buildings line the square, including the town hall, which was built in 1893.
This cathedral in the heart of Graz was constructed in the 15th century. The interior is adorned with Gothic and baroque elements. Of particular interest is the somewhat faded fresco on the cathedral’s exterior. It dates back to 1485 and depicts when Graz was thwarted by not only a Turkish invasion, but also the plague and locusts.
