The French Air Traffic Control has announced it will strike from Saturday, 7 April, 6:00 am until Monday, 9 April 2018, 6:00 am (CET). As some Condor flights operate in French air space, there will be some disruption to flights operating in particular to and from Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Maldives: latest travel advice from the German Federal Foreign Office

Following ongoing demonstrations due to political tensions between the opposition and the government, a countrywide state of emergency was declared on Monday,  February 5th. It will initially be in effect for 15 days. Security forces will have extended powers concerning the arrest and detention of suspects. Further protests are possible. Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected.

Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to avoid operations of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces. Furthermore, travelers are advised to refrain from unnecessary trips to the capital Malé, to avoid crowds and demonstrations.

The Government of the Maldives assures the tourism and travel trade that all tourism related businesses will be operating as usual and the situation in the Maldives remains stable. The State of Emergency does not force any restrictions on travelling to the Maldives or within the Maldives.

We closely monitor the political situation and development in the Maldives and are in constant contact with local authorities and partners. Condor passengers arrive at Hulhulmale Island - Velana International Airport, which is a small neighboring island of Malé.

Upon arrival at the airport, guests are usually taken directly to their resort. Our passengers are informed on site by our employees about the latest developments. Guests whose flights are part of a package holiday should contact their tour operator or travel agent.

In response to an increased crime rate, a state of emergency has been declared for Saint James Parish, including Montego Bay, and will remain in place until 2nd May 2018. As a result, the local police are authorised to use more intensive law enforcement activities.

The main connection between the airport in Montego Bay and the piers containing the cruise liner terminals is being kept under particularly close surveillance and has been classified as safe.

Please carefully read through the travel and security advice provided by the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) and bear this in mind when on your travels.

Dominican Republic: Tourist Card Fee Now Included in Flight Fares

The entry requirements of the Dominican Republic stipulate that every tourist must have a Tourist Card before going through the passport control area upon arrival. Until now, tourists have been able to purchase the Tourist Card online, from machines at airports and ports or via travel agents or consulates. This requirement also applies to German tourists.

The new decree concerning this requirement stipulates that from 1st April 2018, the price of the Tourist Card will be added to the price of all air and sea travel tickets purchased by tourists for their journey to the Dominican Republic. The Condor booking systems are therefore being adapted to meet this new regulation and the Tourist Card fee of $10 will be automatically added to the price of Condor tickets.

This new procedure means that when travelling to the Dominican Republic, you are no longer required to independently purchase a Tourist Card. In the past, passengers arriving at the airports in Puerto Plata and Punta Cana were often confronted with a long wait because most tourists purchased their Tourist Cards from the machines at the airports upon arrival. With these new measures, the government hopes to optimise the Tourist Card procedure at local airports.

If you travel to the Dominican Republic by land, you are not affected by these new regulations. The previous procedure for land travel still applies.
