Strike of security staff at several German airports on January 15, 2019

In addition to Frankfurt, security staff at the airports of Hamburg, Munich, Hanover and Leipzig-Halle will go on strike on January 15, 2019, too. There will be considerably longer waiting times at all airports concerned, which means that all guests will have to plan for more time. The Late Night Check-in at all affected Condor airports will be free of charge on January 14.

Condor is doing its utmost to bring as many guests as possible to their holiday or home. We ask all passengers to continuously check on their earlier check-in time as well as on their flight status.

Information about flights departing from Frankfurt
Security staff at Frankfurt Airport will go on strike on January 15, 2019, from 2:00-20:00. The airport operator Fraport has announced that, as a result, only security checks in the transit area will be occupied, but not the checks for passengers starting their journey in Frankfurt.

This means that guests who travel from Frankfurt and whose flight has not been transferred to another departure airport will not be able to reach their flight during the strike. It is therefore strongly discouraged from travelling to the airport in this case.

Condor is doing its utmost to bring as many guests as possible to their destination despite the effects of the strike. An overview of changes for flights from Frankfurt on 15 January can be found below.

Customers that have booked a flight from Frankfurt on January 15, 2019, can rebook their flight without any rebooking fee onto another Condor flight via the Condor Service Hotline or their tour operator.

We kindly ask all guests flying from or to Frankfurt on January 15, 2019, and to check their flight status at www.condor.com or, if the flight was booked as part of a package tour, their respective tour operator for any additional information.

Dominican Republic: Tourist Card Fee Now Included in Flight Fares

The entry requirements of the Dominican Republic stipulate that every tourist must have a Tourist Card before going through the passport control area upon arrival. Until now, tourists have been able to purchase the Tourist Card online, from machines at airports and ports or via travel agents or consulates. This requirement also applies to German tourists.

The new decree concerning this requirement stipulates that from 1st April 2018, the price of the Tourist Card will be added to the price of all air and sea travel tickets purchased by tourists for their journey to the Dominican Republic. The Condor booking systems are therefore being adapted to meet this new regulation and the Tourist Card fee of $10 will be automatically added to the price of Condor tickets.

This new procedure means that when travelling to the Dominican Republic, you are no longer required to independently purchase a Tourist Card. In the past, passengers arriving at the airports in Puerto Plata and Punta Cana were often confronted with a long wait because most tourists purchased their Tourist Cards from the machines at the airports upon arrival. With these new measures, the government hopes to optimise the Tourist Card procedure at local airports.

If you travel to the Dominican Republic by land, you are not affected by these new regulations. The previous procedure for land travel still applies.

Zanzibar: Yellow fever vaccination is now compulsory

According to information received from the Foreign office, contrary to previous advice, it is now official that evidence of yellow fever vaccination is required in order to enter Zanzibar. This also applies if you travel to Zanzibar from the Tanzanian mainland by sea or air.

These new requirements have been confirmed explicitly by the Tanzanian Embassy in Berlin (and on the website). However, if you are spending your holiday on the Tanzanian mainland only, this does not apply when travelling from Europe.
