5 Reasons Why You Should Travel to Jacksonville (JAX)

1. Salt air beaches along the Atlantic coast

Morning light hits wide sand at Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach. Surf, paddle and swim when conditions allow. Near Hanna Park, pine trails and dune edges add shade, so stay on marked paths to protect fragile areas.

2. Marshes, trails and islands near the city

Tidal creeks and spartina marshes frame the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve. You can kayak quiet backwaters or hike coastal forest and shoreline. Follow ranger guidance and watch tides so routes and launches stay safe.

3. A riverfront skyline tied to the St. Johns

The St. Johns River runs through downtown with Riverwalk paths on both banks. Bridges, river breezes and waterfront parks shape the view as you stroll. Sunset cruises and skyline photos feel best with clear weather and light.

4. Neighborhood streets built for local flavor

In Riverside, Avondale and San Marco, brick storefronts and shaded avenues set a walkable pace. You’ll find coffee shops, galleries and patio dining close together. Go early for markets and linger for live music after dark.

5. Seafood traditions from the Mayport docks

At the mouth of the St. Johns River, Mayport Village keeps a working-waterfront rhythm. Mayport shrimp is a local specialty tied to nearby boats and docks. Order it simply and let the sweet, briny flavor stand out.
