Condor’s first flight from Frankfurt to Minneapolis-St. Paul

Frankfurt am Main, 26 June 2014 – Condor, Germany's most popular airline, is increasing its long-haul offer from Frankfurt (FRA) to the United States with its first flight to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP). The flight to Minneapolis-St. Paul took off from Frankfurt at 2:15pm today. Uwe Balser, Managing Director of Condor, Anke Giesen executive board of Ground Handling Fraport AG, and Kevin C. Milas, Consul General of the United States in Frankfurt, greeted passengers at the gate: colorful balloons, a traditional jazz band and a cheerleader group helped create the Midwest mood that passengers would find at their destination. Further destinations are Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Las Vegas (LAS), Seattle (SEA), Anchorage (ANC), Calgary (YYC), Fairbanks (FAI), Halifax (YHZ), Toronto (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR) and Whitehorse (YXY).

"A new flight is always a special event for an airline, and that's why we'd like to celebrate it with our passengers," said Uwe Balser. "The new connection not only offers our customers in Europe an easy route to the heart of the United States, but is also an opportunity for our American guests to fly conveniently non-stop to Europe."

Anke Giesen welcomes the new destination from Frankfurt Airport: „With Minneapolis, we offer almost 300 destinations that can be reached nonstop from Frankfurt. This emphasizes the outstanding quality of the connections of our airport and shows that we are one of the most international hubs in Europe. “

Condor awarded as sustainable airline

Frankfurt am Main, 2 May 2014 – In the survey “Mit gutem Gewissen” by Focus and Focus Money,Condor is awarded as sustainable airline. In the survey, a representative panel of consumers rated a total of 17 airlines according to their economic, ecological and social responsibility. Condor received the gold seal.

Consumers were asked to rate companies by their ecological responsibility with regard to environmental awareness, their social responsibility and social commitment, and economic responsibility with regard to economic efficiency.

“Sustainability is something that is very dear to the hearts of us here at Condor, ecologically, socially and economically,” said Ralf Teckentrup, Managing Director of Condor. “Our aircraft use less than three liters per passenger per 100 kilometers, and are all fitted with fuel-saving winglets or sharklets. This makes flying much better for the environment than travelling by car.”

Condor is also aware of its responsibility with regard to social commitments: the company founded the ConTribute initiative, and has been following social objectives for a number of years now, including providing aid in the event of natural disasters, and supporting initiatives for children and young adults. In addition to several children’s projects such as orphanages and nursery schools at destinations, the holiday airline is currently supporting Bild hilft e.V. - “Ein Herz für Kinder e.V.” with a fundraising campaign and for which a Boeing 767 was completely made over in the Janosch design, while other aircraft are adorned with “Günter Kastenfrosch” and Tiger Duck in the Condor logo. Consumers also gave Germany’s most popular airline a very good rating for its economic standards. “As the second biggest airline at Frankfurt airport and one of the most appealing employers in the aviation industry, Condor offers numerous employees an attractive perspective. With new destinations and additional aircraft all over Germany, we are also providing jobs,” he continued.

The Thomas Cook Group presented its sustainability report in the end of March 2014, which also detailed the sustainable development of the Thomas Cook Group airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia, Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium and Condor. The implementation of numerous sustainability projects has put the four airlines in the Thomas Cook Group among the most sustainable airlines. By 2016, 25 new Airbus A321-211 aircraft of the latest generation are to be added to the Group's airlines. The latest engine technology and improved aerodynamics reduce fuel consumption, and thus also the level of emissions, and improve noise protection. The aircraft are fitted with sharklets on the wing tips that not only reduce fuel consumption, but also improve fuel efficiency by up to six percent in comparison with the current Airbus aircraft in the Group airlines' fleet.

With 16,500 respondents on 1000 brands from a total of 49 industries and product categories, “Mit gutem Gewissen” is the biggest consumer sustainability survey.

Condor Boeing 767 fleet: First flight with new cabin.

Frankfurt - 31 October, 2013. Flying with Condor Airlines is now even more comfortable: The leisure airline’s first Boeing 767-300 with a completely refurbished cabin was integrated in flight operations yesterday. The aircraft returned to Germany this week after spending several weeks of refurbishing a completely new cabin. The Boeing 767-300, registration D-ABUB, has 18 seats in the new Business Class, 35 in Premium Economy Class and 206 in Economy Class. Passengers on yesterday’s Condor flight DE3326 from Frankfurt to the Maldives departing at 8:20 pm were the first to enjoy the delights of the new cabin (Watch Video clip of the all-new cabin).

The entire cabin shines in a modern, fresh design. One particular highlight of the new cabin is Condor Business Class, where the comfortable, fully-automatic reclining seats adjust electronically, and with a tilt angle of 170 degrees offer passengers a range of positions for relaxing. The extensive entertainment system on demand is operated by touch screen on the modern 15.4” seat monitors. The cabin looks brighter and fresher in the new Condor Business Class design. In addition to the innovative seats, a new blue-grey carpet that is part of a group-wide cabin design and new wall cladding, a new logo has also been designed for Business Class. As of now, Condor Business Class is identified by a silver logo.

Premium Economy seats have headrests with height and lateral adjustment, as well as footrests. They have a reinforced backrest that offers additional comfort – further enhanced by the backrest tilt, which has been doubled by 23.3 cm. The distance between the seat rows is still about 15 cm more than in Economy Class. And due to the narrower backrest of the new seats in Premium Economy and Economy Class, passengers can “feel” they have more room. The lavatories have also been completely modernised.

Passengers in Premium Economy Class have free access to all the content of the In-flight Entertainment program, while in Economy Class there is a standard offer that is similar to the current entertainment program. The choice includes a film and a TV series. For just €7, Economy Class passengers can gain an access code from the crew so they can enjoy the delights of the exciting and extensive programs. As soon as the entire fleet has been refurbished, it will be possible to book extended access to the In-flight Entertainment program in advance via the Internet.

The second aircraft to be converted is a Boeing 767-300 with 30 seats in Business Class, which will be available for operation at the end of November. This marks the beginning of the Split Fleet with different cabin configurations within the fleet. The aircraft with 30 Business Class seats will then be used on routes with a greater demand for Business Class, such as the Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives.

An Alpine flight over town, country and water

On November 10, 2013, Condor's popular sightseeing flight over the Alps took to the air as part of the Stuttgart Airport Festival. Heavy cloud cover meant that the 174 passengers on board the Airbus A320 flew from Stuttgart to Milan, enjoying a rather special kind of sightseeing trip with views over Milan Cathedral and the Castello Sforzesco. The Alps of South Tyrol offered glimpses of the Ulten Valley that stretches from the Stelvio Pass to Lana and boasts the 3343 meter high Eggenspitze and the Zoggler Reservoir. The return flight to Stuttgart started with a staggering Alpine panorama in Tyrol, a view of the 2404 meter high Nockspitze and impressions of Innsbruck and the Inn Valley.

At Stuttgart Airport, the passengers enjoyed the promised special flight maneuver, a so-called low approach (flying over the runway at about 30 meters), followed by a go-around and then a safe landing after a flight lasting almost two hours.

In charge of on-board safety and service were Purser Jörg Just and Condor Flight Attendant colleagues Sabine Opalka, Eva-Katharina Schnaidt and Julia Seibold; seated in the cockpit were First Officer Heiko Schmid and Copilot Bernd Krohme, with Captain Uli Frisch. Bernd Krohme acted as the tour guide for the sightseeing flight.

Condor – Born to fly with the heart

Condor has been a leading leisure airline for many years. Since 1956, we have been flying passengers to the most beautiful holiday destinations all over the world. Our employees put their hearts into every flight – this is what we call the Condor spirit. This lets our customers’ holiday start as soon as they board their flight and makes us Germany’s most popular airline.

As the first leisure airline in Europe, we are proud to belong to a wider family of travel pioneers, the Thomas Cook Group. To express our mutual identity and establish closer ties with other like-minded companies, we are uniting under a common symbol: a sunny heart.
We live by the values expressed by the heart – trusted, personal and innovative.
The heart will follow our customers throughout their journey – from initial enquiry, aboard of our aircrafts, during their stay and all the way home. It will simplify their choices by offering flexibility, give assurance and provide a visual reminder that they are well looked after.

Janosch and Condor support BILD hilft e.V. “Ein Herz für Kinder”

There is always a reason to do something good. With this motto in mind, Janosch and Condor are supporting the well-known German aid organization BILD hilft e.V. “Ein Herz für Kinder” with a large-scale fundraising campaign.
Condor will be supporting this organization by donating a percentage of our earnings from ticket sales and the revenue of numerous special promotions for good causes. Part of the special promotion will be an airplane model auction with our special Janosch livery, for which all proceeds will go to “Ein Herz für Kinder”.
In order to draw attention to our promotions, Tigerduck and friends are “flying” through our Condor websites, smiling from the body of our aircraft, and spreading cheer and happiness on board.
One Boeing 767-300 with the Janosch cartoon characters on its fuselage will be flying around the world to attract attention. All other planes will receive a corresponding logo and a Janosch character within the Condor logo.

Condor rated "good" in airline test

According to a relevant study carried out by "Reise & Preise" magazine, Condor is one of the best leisure carriers in Europe (issue 2-2013). The in-flight service and seat comfort of European scheduled airlines and leisure carriers were put to the test on shorthaul and mediumhaul routes.

Price transparency in flight bookings with regard to payments and charges were also included in the evaluation, as were baggage conditions, seat comfort and entertainment options during the flight. Condor has improved seat comfort, continues to serve non-alcoholic beverages, and dispenses free meals and snacks. This means that passengers enjoy a high level of comfort.

Thanks to the good results achieved for performance, service and customer friendliness, but most importantly, because there are no hidden costs for the customer in Condor flight bookings, the leisure carrier was awarded the Fair Play seal of quality by "Reise & Preise". This seal of quality pays tribute to airlines such as Condor, who treat their customers fairly and honestly. Condor is a test winner, as "very good", the highest mark, was not awarded.

WestJet and Condor are now offering connections from: Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Kelowna, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa, Prince George, St. John's, Thunder Bay, Victoria and Winnipeg. Globus Awards: Condor is number one

Condor provides an outstanding service to travel agents. This was the result of a vote among the staff of around 700 agencies. The deserved reward: one of the coveted Globus Awards from "touristik aktuell"

The Globus Awards ceremony for the best travel agency service was held on January 31, 2013 at the Maritim Hotel in Frankfurt. Condor took first place among the airlines, followed by Emirates and Lufthansa. A particularly positive view was taken of the fair, code sharing partnership system for flight bookings, which always focuses on the interests of the shared customer.

"I am delighted that Condor has been given this award", says Sales Manager Uwe Klenovsky. "This is thanks to the tireless work of our field service, group department, sales service teams and the Customer Contact Center, and I could not be more proud. This positive feedback shows that as a company, we are close to our sales partners in B2B marketing, and we jointly sell a great many flights together. It is our aim to make flying with Condor the best choice for a booking, wherever our shared customers are looking to fly. If travel agency staff know that they have a good working relationship with Condor, they will advise their customers accordingly, so that they fly with Condor wherever possible. We could see this quite clearly last year, from the excellent booking figures for third-party sales."

Condor had already been given the seal of approval in December 2012, with a "very good" quality rating in a customer satisfaction survey carried out by the Deutsches Institut für Servicequalität (DISQ) and according to the "Brand Index Top-Performer 2012" rankings, Condor is one of the most popular German brands.

Condor comes out on top for customer satisfaction

In a customer satisfaction survey, Condor was the only airline awarded "very good" as a seal of approval for their test rating. The survey was carried out by the Deutsches Institut für Servicequalität (DISQ), on behalf of the news channel n-tv. An online panel of around 1,200 people gave their assessment of the airlines they had flown with during the past year.

Success across the board! Condor was given a positive rating in all categories. A "good" mark for service and flight availability – and even a "very good" for reliability, safety and price/performance ratio. There were also very few complaints.

Rainer Kröpke, Product Management & Marketing Manager: "We are delighted that our passengers have given us such a positive rating. It shows that the thinking behind our concept is just right, that tradition, a high level of service and an interesting and varied program of entertainment are what is required and we will continue to offer our customers the choice of upgrading the service, with our Premium Menus and our Premium Economy and Comfort Class."

Flying high on Alpine flights

On November 18 it was time once again for the popular Condor sightseeing flight over the Alps, as part of the Stuttgart Airport Travel Festival. Retro-jet "Hans" was ready for take-off at 10:00 and took to the skies right on time. Flying first over Hohenzollern castle towards Arlberg/Ischgl and then on towards South Tyrol. Here there were phenomenal views over Meran and Bozen for passengers to enjoy. Then it was on into the Dolomites, to Cortina d`Ampezzo. Over Austria en route to Lake Tegern, with a view of the Three Peaks and the Grossglockner, as well as Zell am See. Finally, the delighted and enthralled passengers were able to admire the Zugspitze and the Allgäu from above. The flight lasted an hour and a half, with an excellent gate bag providing suitable on-board catering. Alpine flights – always an unforgettable experience!
