A magnificent medley admired from on high

This is the slogan Condor used on June 17 as their Airbus A320 took off on a sightseeing flight over the Leipzig region. This rather special Sunday outing was part of the Leipzig airport festival, and was a complete success. In perfect flying weather, the aircraft set off from Leipzig towards Dresden and over the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The pilot then headed for the fairytale Baroque palace, Schloss Moritzburg. Finally, the interesting and varied route passed over Riesa and Grimma. The two approaches to Leipzig airport were a real highlight. The flight lasted just an hour and suitable in-flight catering was provided by a small gate bag. Visibly delighted, passengers were able to drink to the phenomenal view with a glass of sparkling wine.

A silver medal for condor.com

Condor is delighted with second place – an outstanding achievement in a comparison of online flight offers with major German airlines. The condor.com website was awarded an average mark of 1.8 by "Getestet.de", the comparison portal that ran the test, clearly establishing them as above average. Condor's good price-performance ratio, the detailed information they provide and the opportunity to book many additional services, were singled out for particular praise.

The "Getestet.de" comparison evaluated the Internet site, the range of offers and in particular, the price levels of the different operators. 30% of the marks were awarded for the Internet site, user-friendliness and customer area; 50% for the route network, ticket prices and possible additional services and 20% for customer service (accessibility, response time, online support). All the tested airlines achieved a positive result, thanks primarily to clearly structured websites and easily comprehensible and secure flight booking sequences.

Condor In Flight Entertainment

Condor installs new WiFi-based in-flight entertainment system on board

In cooperation with Lufthansa Systems, Condor’s Boeing 767 fleet is equipped with the new in-flight entertainment system BoardConnect. This innovative WiFi-based infotainment system allows passengers to access a great variety of e.g. movies, music or games via implemented screens or personal laptops, tablets, smartphones and other compatible devices. Furthermore, it gives the airlines the opportunity to provide state of the art information offers and services. BoardConnect also proofs itself with its five access points which are connected to a central server. This means that the individual cabling with each seat is not necessary anymore. If an aircraft is also equipped with a broadband internet access, passengers can easily connect with the internet, check their e-mails or get in touch with friends in social networks. Thereby, they can quickly be informed about their connecting flights or receive personally tailored offers.

First flight for the new A321 from Berlin-Schoenefeld to Mallorca

On May 10, 2012 Condor was celebrating a very special inaugural flight. The first Airbus A321-200 in Condor's fleet completed its first passenger flight. Having the inaugural take off as planned and on time was especially pleasing to the project team. For months they had been working diligently to add a new member to the Condor fleet. On all flights from Berlin-Schoenefeld and return, passengers enjoyed Champaign to toast “many happy landings” for the new addition. Since the foundation of the company in 1956 the new A321 is the first German produced Condor aircraft. The aircraft was produced in Hamburg-Finkenwerder in 2001. Equipped with 210 seats the A321 will be flying to vacation destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Antalya, Heraklion departing from Hannover, Berlin-Schoenefeld und Paderborn.

Condor receives an award for service quality

A direct flight to the winner's podium! On February 1 2012, the news channel n-tv and the Deutsches Institut für Service-Qualität (DISQ) held their second award ceremony to recognize quality of service in Germany. Condor flew into third place in the overall ranking in the Tourism category, excelling once again as the best German leisure carrier. Testers were particularly satisfied by the good communication skills and competent manner of telephone operatives when offering advice. Condor's response to e-mail queries was also exemplary.

Heidi Schüritz, the Manager of the Customer Contact Center, was pleased with the award, and said, "Our ongoing commitment to consistently improving our service, and the excellent and positive collaboration we enjoy with our partner of many years, avarto direct services, have borne fruit. We are very proud to receive this award in such prestigious company."

A total of 430 companies came under intense scrutiny. In the end, there were 39 award winners in eleven cross-sector categories, such as Tourism, Health or E-Commerce. The evaluation was made by bringing together the findings of the 40 service studies and more than 15,000 contacts made by "secret shoppers", that were carried out by DISQ in recent months. The testers examined key criteria such as service quality on the phone and in e-mails, friendliness and expertise of personnel, waiting times and the tone of conversations. The "website" criterion was assessed by such values as user-friendliness, range of information and transparency.

Condor fulfills safety standards – Accepted into the IOSA Registry

Condor Flugdienst GmbH, headquartered in Kelsterbach, Germany, was officially recognized among the select group of airlines subscribing to the IATA's (International Air Transport Association) high quality and safety standards through the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). This lists Condor in the so-called IOSA Registry. By means of this registration, Thomas Cook AG, the renowned leisure airline, assures that Condor meets the more than 900 internationally recognized standards for safety in air travel. Condor’s audit took place last year in Kelsterbach.

The IOSA program was first launched by the IATA in 2003 for evaluating the process management and monitoring systems of an airline in regard to operational safety and quality assurance. IOSA standards were developed in conjunction with interdisciplinary international groups under the direction of the IATA and are recognized worldwide.

Through this recognition, Condor now belongs to the 225 airlines who currently verifiably meet IATA’s operational safety standards. By participating in the IOSA program, Condor demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement in safety. Follow-up IOSA audits are conducted every two years to ensure that an airline continues to uphold the required standards.
