Information for travel between the European Union and the United States of America

(The following information has been compiled by the privacy protection group of the European Union.)

As required by American law, and in accordance with the agreement between the European Union and the United States, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will receive certain items of information (PNR: passenger name record) on passengers travelling between the European Union and the United States of America.

The DHS agrees that this information will be used primarily for the purpose of fighting terrorism, and secondly to prevent serious international crime. This information may be compared with other data in passenger lists that may give cause for concern with regard to aviation safety.

PNR details will be stored for a minimum of three years and six months, and may be passed on to other authorities. For further information on this regulation, including measures for the protection of your personal details, please contact your airline or travel agent.
